Christchurch Eco Council 2020-2021
The Eco Council have had brilliant news to begin the new year – we have been successful in retaining our Eco Schools Platinum Award for the second time!! We are thrilled as this year has been full of challenges and changes and the Eco Council are determined to not let our Eco work and standards fall.
We have begun working towards gaining the ‘FairAware’ Fairtrade schools award. The award recognises the work that schools carry out to educate children about Fairtrade and to promote Fairtrade within the school itself.
During the first half term we have been fortunate to work alongside Denbighshire Countryside Services. The wonderful staff from the services will be helping Christchurch to improve its grounds. Tree-planting will begin in December!
A great success of the previous year, and continuing into this year, has been the introduction of ParentPay. As a result, school has greatly reduced its paper use and its effect on the environment.
The Eco Council will be continuing to promote our Eco ethos. As face-to-face meetings are not able to take place at the moment, we will be starting to work on Google Classroom and sharing tasks and Eco activities digitally. We will continue to promote our Eco ethos and Eco Code throughout the school and our amazing Councillors will lead the way to incorporate more and more into everyday school life. Now, more than ever, we are determined to continue our wonderful work and build on what we have firmly put in place.
