School Council

School Council 2020-21. Making A Difference.

In these unprecedented times , when afterschool meetings cannot take place , nor mixing of classes we didn't want to wait and not form our new School Council.

We were determined to be proactive. So , we communicate through Google Classroom and separate bubble updates. Nothing will prevent Christchurch School Council from representing children's voices. School Council 2020-21 : Grace, Oliver, Leo, Millie, Hannah, Lily, Lydeah ,Edrianne, Maddison, Alfie, Lily S, Jordan, Kaydee- Jay, Demi, Barkley, Oscar and Julie-Ann.

We have educated all classes about World Mental Health Day and hosted a competition - see photos.

The Rights of the Child is a core value of Christchurch School and the School Council will lead the school towards gaining National Rights Respecting School Status , we have already started the journey. Watch out for updates. The entries were excellent and supported our School's focus on positive mental health.

On our Friday update each rep asked their class about how we are keeping safe.

This is what we found out :

The School Council in their Friday Update on Friday 9th spoke to their classes about being back at school after lockdown. We wanted to share with you how the children are feeling. Here are some points from what they said. They are feeling safe because:

  • We have one-way systems.
  • We are keeping 2 metres apart.
  • Having lunch in our classrooms.
  • Keeping in our bubbles.
  • Having toilet breaks.
  • Hand sanitiser. Paul always filling it up.
  • Lots of cleaning.
  • Time to wash our hands.
  • Talking about it.
  • Making sure we move safely around.
  • Windows open.
  • Outdoor doors closed
  • Having own space in the playground.
On behalf of the children , we want to say to the staff and governors- Thank you for keeping us safe!
